The Milwaukee area made "The Worst Job Markets" list again this
month.
Charles W. McMillion, president and chief economist of MBG
Information Services, compiles the list from preliminary Bureau of
Labor Statistics data comparing 12-month employment growth and loss
among America's metropolitan areas.
"I didn't really realize that the Milwaukee area has been hit so
hard for so long," McMillion said from his Washington, D.C., office
Thursday.
The latest data show the four-county Milwaukee area's net loss of
8,800 jobs between April 2005 and April 2006, the fourth-highest in
the country behind the New Orleans area (down 190,500); Gulfport-
Biloxi, Miss. (22,100); and the Detroit area (18,800).
