Elkhart Lake One historic streak ended Saturday afternoon at Road
America but another of note survived another race.
Ben Spies, the American Motorcyclist Association Superbike points
leader, failed to extend his record-tying winning streak to seven
races in the first half of the Suzuki Doubleheader, but the Yoshimura
Suzuki team continued its dominance over the rest of the circuit.
Yoshimura's winning streak this season sits at eight and counting.
Mat Mladin, Spies' teammate and the three-time defending series
champion (he's won six overall), overcame a shaky start to lead the
final 10 laps and survived a late charge by Spies to win the 16-lap
race by a margin of 0.149 of a second. The ...
