The Lake Park Lawn Bowling Club needs a little young blood. Of its
60 members, many are retired and hoping to pass on the sport to a new
generation.
"It's a great game, and it's very challenging," said club
president Bill Harrington. "The secret is that the ball is weighted.
You go to all extremes to score."
Lawn bowling has rules, regulations and specificities that are
easily learned along the way, but here are the basics:
Jack it up Within the large green are several long rinks. A small
white ball the "jack" is tossed from one end of the rink to the
other and becomes the target for the bowls, a player's oblong,
