Green Lake A midsummer storm swept over Wisconsin's deepest lake,
riling its waters to white-capped peaks and rattling the city's
lakeside flagpole with clanging insistence.
Nature's drama was brief. Showers ebbed, winds subsided, and Green
Lake's weekly 5 p.m. beachfront band concert took place as planned,
witnessed by a third of the city's population of 1,100. Town elders
lined the sidewalk, their lawn chairs mere inches from their car
doors, as younger generations clutching blankets, picnic baskets and
toys clamored to get prime space near the band shell.
That's how life goes in this mid-state mecca for vacation
