Chicago Officially speaking, the Chicago White Sox still have a
pulse, weak and fading fast perhaps, but a pulse nonetheless.
But in their heart of hearts, the White Sox know that their World
Series championship flag has a shelf life of, oh, about two more
weeks. After being swept by the Oakland A's over the weekend, the
White Sox hobbled home, five games behind the Detroit Tigers in the
American League Central standings and four games behind the Minnesota
Twins in the wild-card chase.
The White Sox escaped Oakland hoping to take a bite out of
Detroit's lead Monday night at U.S. Cellular Field. Detroit had lost
