Court records indicate Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee plans to drop
his request to change his given name, Michael Imanu Jackson, to the
name he has been known by his entire life: McGee.
McGee, 36, filed the name-change petition May 24, then initially
denied he had, then acknowledged the request with a news release that
said he needed the change to get a U.S. passport.
Online court records show an entry from Thursday that states:
"Court received call from petitioner advising that he will not be
pursuing the petition for name change and will be submitting a letter
to this effect." A hearing on the request, which cost $158.50 to
file, is set for next week but could be canceled if McGee drops the
