For the Jacksons, a love of gardening seems to be hereditary.

These days, son Byron, 36, is in charge of the vegetable garden, which has been turned over to the tomatoes and three varieties of rare peppers he uses in his gourmet hot sauce business.

"We always had a garden back there with peas, okra, greens, eggplant," he says. "I eventually took it over as a little business."
