Davenport, Iowa At the same time Milwaukee shoppers have been
pining for a Nordstrom store, a quiet, upscale department store chain
based in Iowa has been hoping to fill that desire for a bit of
luxury.
Von Maur, sometimes referred to as the "Nordstrom of the Midwest,"
has been trying for a decade to get into a mall in the area,
according to president Jim von Maur. Now, with the announcement of
two new retail centers proposed for Waukesha County, von Maur is
hoping that he will be successful in bringing a store to the area.
"We are going to be in Milwaukee," von Maur said in an interview
at the chain's headquarters. "We want to be in Milwaukee."
