He has dipped his golden spoon into more than 200 million gallons
of ice cream during his tasting career, which so far has spanned some
35 years. His taste buds are such a cool asset that they are insured
for $1 million. John Harrison, the official taster of Edy's Grand Ice
Cream, is visiting the Milwaukee area Thursday and Friday to conduct
a taste test and offer the scoop on Edy's newest addition, Dibs
chocolate-coated bites of ice cream. Harrison is scheduled to be at
the Pick 'n Save at 6969 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale from 10
to 11 a.m. Friday. Harrison discussed the coolest aspects of his
Willy Wonka-esque job this week with food writer Karen Herzog.
