Denver Even Tony Gwynn Jr. had to laugh a bit about the timing of
his first major-league start.
"I'm glad (manager Ned Yost) didn't hold that against me," said
Gwynn, who started in center field Wednesday night against the
Colorado Rockies.
The rookie outfielder referred to a liner he botched in the bottom
of the ninth inning Tuesday night, resulting in a leadoff triple by
the Rockies' Todd Helton in a game the Brewers were leading, 1-0.
Closer Francisco Cordero eventually worked his way out of the inning
without allowing a run and the Brewers hung on to win.
"I felt like giving him a big hug," said Gwynn.
