If you aren't from Manitowoc or don't work in the food industry, chances are you haven't heard of Lakeside Foods Inc.

But it's very likely you've eaten something picked and packaged by the company.

Lakeside, a $300 million-a-year company based in Manitowoc, hires Wisconsin and Minnesota farmers to plant and grow products such as peas, corn and green beans, then harvests those crops and cans or freezes them. They eventually end up on store shelves or in frozen foods cases at local supermarkets under store-brand names such as Roundy's, Food Club and IGA, or in restaurants and cafeterias.
