Tuesday's primary elections will likely be the deciding vote in
the races for district attorney, county sheriff and one state
Assembly race and will narrow the field of candidates in other
legislative races.
The Republican races for county sheriff and district attorney will
be concluded in the primary unless a Democrat or some other candidate
emerges as a write-in candidate in the Nov. 7 general election.
The winner of the district attorney race will be the county's
first new district attorney since 1988.
Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney Brad Schimel, a
prosecutor since 1990, faces off against Walworth County Assistant
