That's what kind of National League Championship Series this has
been. As unpredictable as fall weather in Wisconsin.
With the favored New York Mets' season squarely on the line,
rookie right-hander John Maine tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings
Wednesday night and his teammates did enough against St. Louis ace
Chris Carpenter to take a 4-2 victory in Game 6 at Shea Stadium.
By staving off elimination, the Mets set up a winner-take-all Game
7 tonight for a berth in the World Series against the Detroit Tigers.
