You can't beat the classics for processional and recessional music
for weddings.
The number one hit for the former is the Bridal Chorus from
"Lohengrin," Wagner's landmark opera, which premiered in 1850. You
know it as "Here Comes the Bride." Too often, organists and pianists
play booming, crudely reduced versions of it. The original is sweet
and charming, a sonic bouquet for female voices and orchestra. If you
have money in the budget for music, this is a good place to spend it;
hire a chorus or even a vocal quartet and a few strings to evoke the
spirit of the original.
The marriage between Lohengrin and Elsa comes to a bad end, but
the chorus is pretty happy.
