Philadelphia - There is no such thing as a sure thing in
baseball, but Francisco Cordero has become as close to one as there
is for the Milwaukee Brewers.
And close is exactly what the Philadelphia Phillies' Pat Burrell
came to ending Cordero's streak of dominance and possibly sending
the Brewers to what could have been a crushing defeat.
With the Brewers clinging to a one-run lead, Burrell smacked a
hanging slider from Cordero to deep left with one out in the bottom
of the ninth. Cordero's heart raced, as likely did the hearts of all
the Brewers on the field and in the dugout.
