Representatives of suburban communities that have battled the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District over sewer fees for more than a decade will meet Wednesday to discuss a possible counteroffer to MMSD's latest settlement proposal.

But any talks of a compromise were rejected outright Sunday by a district spokesman who said the district was not willing to move on its offer.

The district proposed Friday to slash the amount of money it contends six suburban communities owe for construction costs of the deep tunnel project from $170 million to $107 million, a reduction of $63 million.
