A Feb. 24 letter written by Rae C. Thomas harshly criticized the
Wisconsin Humane Society for its decision to drop stray and lost
animals services when its contract with the city ends in December.
For many years, WHS has been helping abandoned, lost and injured
animals. It is not the duty of the organization to clean up after
every irresponsible person. Many people fail to realize that a pet
is not a disposable toy. If a person can't afford to neuter or spay
a pet, how will he or she provide the animal with a lifetime of
necessities? Food and medical attention are costly. It is often
discovered that pets are "too much work" and ...
