Article: Detained Bosnian Serb general indicted on war crimes charges

A Serb general who has refused to testify against Bosnian Serb leaders was indicted Friday on war crimes charges for shelling attacks that killed 10,000 civilians trapped in Sarajevo.

Gen. Djordje Djukic, 61, was arrested last month after he strayed into territory controlled by the Bosnian government. He was extradited to The Hague in hopes he would provide evidence against two leaders already indicted by the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal: Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and his military commander, Gen. Ratko Mladic.

Tribunal officials made it plain Friday that Djukic's refusal to cooperate with those investigations led to his own indictment.
