The Green Bay Packers moved close to an agreement with free agent
Tampa Bay defensive tackle Santana Dotson Tuesday night while tight
end Keith Jackson prepared to visit the New Orleans Saints.
Alphonse Dotson, Santana's father and agent, said Green Bay was his
son's first choice and that he hoped to complete a deal by Thursday.
"I'd probably say Green Bay is 80% of the way there," Alphonse
Dotson said. "They're on third base and everybody else is back on
first and second base. If all things were equal financially, it'd
be Green Bay."
Dotson, a 26-year-old Baylor graduate, is considering a three-year
contract from the Packers that probably will average in the range of
