Article: Builder Kleist going to jail with no excuses

In the last five years, builder Peter Kleist has gone through a divorce, his 10-year-old son has died, he has lost a business in which he employed 80 people, he has been accused of being a thief and a fraud, and he's one step away from prison.

During an interview this week, Kleist, of course, indicated that he doesn't want to go to prison on Friday, but he wouldn't use his son's fatal illness as an excuse for what got him into trouble.

His attorney, Stephen E. Kravit, said that while Kleist's business fell apart and Kleist ended up being criminally charged, the builder was preoccupied with his son, Kevin, and Kevin's cancer.
