Article: Humane Society compassionate about animals, educating adults

As a longtime supporter, as was my late husband, of the Wisconsin Humane Society, I was disappointed to see a recent misleading story about the Humane Society and a subsequent letter to the editor filled with errors.

The Humane Society received more than 25,000 animals in 1995, twice as many as comparable organizations. Only 5,000 animals were adopted last year, but 5% more than the national average.

Unclaimed and unwanted animals are the result of human neglect and callousness. Technicians with the sad task of administering the painless anesthetic are heroes, not heartless.
