Blackwolf Run introduced Wisconsin golfers to Pete Dye's architectural genius in 1988 and to $100 green fees in 1995.

And this year, the 36-hole complex in Kohler will set yet another precedent.

When the season opens in April, Blackwolf Run will become the first true public golf facility in the state to ban metal spikes. Golfers will be required to wear shoes with non-metal spikes, such as Softspikes, on both the River and Meadow Valleys courses. To help golfers comply with the spikeless policy, the pro shop at Blackwolf Run will replace guests' metal spikes with non-metal versions at no charge (one set replaced per paid green fee).
