Article: Election '96 South Milwaukee School Board

Judging from the campaigns that two incumbents and four challengers for South Milwaukee School Board are running, keeping the quality of education that South Milwaukee children receive while operating within budget is not the only issue, but it is the main one.

The incumbents in the race are School Board President Dennis Orlowski and Theresa Schwantes. The candidates who hope to unseat them are James Weinstock, Laura J. Zepecki, Dawn Emer and Karen J. Gray. The top three finishers in the election Tuesday will serve three-year terms.

"There are other issues in this race, but they are all taking a back seat to the budget issue," Schwantes said.
