Article: Pieces of Russian space history going on auction block in N.Y. Besides the hardware, notes and logs are drawing interest

Americans will get a first-hand look and chance to buy some of the earliest icons of Russian space history on Saturday when they go on sale at Sotheby's auction house in New York.

Odds and ends ranging from battered space capsules and a retired spy satellite to space suits made for both human beings and dogs are among the most dramatic pieces to be offered. Initial offers for pieces like the Vostok 3KA-2 Space Capsule, which looks more like an overgrown pingpong ball than a space vehicle, range from $800,000 to $1 million.
