I am standing on a catwalk a foot above a rampaging river,
watching the wild churning water rush in torrents, listening to its
whooshing roar.
The water hangs like a thunderous curtain of torrential downpour,
tumbling over cliffs just below my feet into the rock-strewn Iguazu
River far below, swirling back into the surrounding rain forest.
White mist puffs everywhere.
I am awe-struck. Euphoria takes over momentarily. I get the
crazy idea to hop over the railing and lunge in, just like Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. What a way to shoot the chutes.
But I quickly come to my senses. The Garganta del Diablo, the
Throat of the Devil, would gobble me up.
To call this simply water is to ...
