Article: After the sentencing Killer's term among stiffest Judge Miller says the message is in Walker's punishment

The sentence imposed on convicted police killer Curtis Walker widely criticized as handed down sympathetically by Circuit Judge Stanley Miller is among the most severe ever imposed here. Miller's sentence of Walker life without parole eligibility for 75 years is in the top 10% of the county's most severe sentences for first-degree intentional homicide, according to data compiled by Jon Reddin, deputy district attorney.

The prosecutor had sought life without parole eligibility for 90 years.

Miller told Walker, 19, during Monday's sentencing that "the hand that you were dealt was unfair." He went on to say, "Quite honestly, . . . I wonder if I could have survived. I doubt it."
