Article: HOLY CROSS ELEMENTARY School puts faith in new funding plan Despite falling enrollment and rising tuition, parish takes heart

When Jane Ehrmann graduated from Holy Cross Elementary School in 1969, the school had 487 pupils.

Ehrmann, who is midway through her first year as the school's principal, couldn't remember how much tuition was then, but in 1973 it was $100 per year.

Since then, Holy Cross, 5424 W. Blue Mound Road, has followed the pattern of many Catholic schools. Tuition rises as enrollment drops.

Enrollment is 156 while tuition has gone to $1,475 per year for the first family member.
