James W. Pihos, the largest franchisee of McDonald's restaurants
in the state, decided after 38 years in business that he deserved a
break.
So Pihos, owner of 21 McDonald's restaurants throughout
southeastern Wisconsin including the oldest one in the state has
sold his golden arches back to McDonald's Corp. for an undisclosed
amount and announced that he would retire in April.
"I put in nearly 40 years in the system and helped build what I
consider to be a top-notch company," said the chairman of
Conley-Pihos Management Co., operating arm for the restaurants and
employer of more than 1,500.
