It is as big as the superstructure of a ship, and it sits on a pad
of new concrete, deep in the heart of Arandell Corp. Like a ship, it
is fussed over by a handful of workers in blue uniforms, but it'll
never take to sea.
It's an $11 million press, installed about a month ago. It will
be ready for christening in a couple of weeks.
The massive new single-web press is the second of its kind, a
Heidelberg-Harris M-3000, that the Menomonee Falls-based catalog
specialist has purchased in less than two years.
Capable of printing 50% faster, on paper 50% wider, than
Arandell's older machinery, the two presses have boosted the firm's
capacity by 60%, inspired a 50,000-square-foot expansion and ...
