There was a time when Notre Dame's athletic excellence was not
limited to the football field, a time when the golden dome reflected
just as brightly on the basketball team.
While it may be difficult to convince a current generation raised
on the exploits of Duke and Georgetown, only three schools Kentucky,
UCLA and North Carolina have made more NCAA tournament appearances
than the 24 by the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame is 10th all time in total victories, 12th in winning
percentage and has produced almost as many National Basketball
Association players, Olympians and Hall of Fame members as any
school you'd care to mention.
But who would know, given the current state of Notre Dame ...
