Article: Cheese trading will go electronic Green Bay exchange says volume will go up; critic is still unsatisfied

The beleaguered National Cheese Exchange, blasted this week in a state investigation, hopes to boost volume within six months by allowing electronic trades, the exchange president said Friday.

Electronic trading of cheese was one of many recommendations made Tuesday by state regulators following a 31/2-year probe that concluded Kraft Foods Inc. had lowered prices for wholesale milk and cheese nationwide by selling cheese at a loss on the exchange.

Richard Gould, exchange president, said the exchange board had been considering adding electronic trading for about one year, and decided to go ahead with the project before the state investigative report was released this week.
