The American Bowling Congress has dropped a lawsuit that contended
it should be exempt from paying property taxes, and it will remain
a happy taxpayer in the Village of Greendale.
"As happy as any taxpayer," John J. Romann, Bowling Congress
general counsel, said Wednesday.
But, as it turns out, the news for the organization isn't all bad:
The Bowling Congress received a large reduction in its property
assessment last summer, from $7.4 million to $5.2 million.
At its meeting tonight, Greendale's Finance Committee will receive
a letter detailing the failed lawsuit. The case was dismissed in
Milwaukee County Circuit Court earlier this month when the Bowling
