Article: PRINT, BROADCAST NEWS ORGANIZATIONS Journal Sentinel wins 12 Press Club top awards Newspaper places first in six writing areas, sweeps photo contests

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was recognized Wednesday in 17 categories in the Milwaukee Press Club's 1995 statewide Awards of Excellence, including 12 first-place honors.

Winners from 19 print and broadcast news organizations throughout Wisconsin will be recognized at the club's annual Gridiron Dinner May 4 at the Pfister Hotel.

Journal Sentinel won first place awards in the following writing categories: coverage of a spot news event by an individual; feature story; sports story; editorial cartoon; business story; and regular column by an individual.

In addition, the newspaper won first place and honorable mention in all six categories for print photography.
