The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was recognized Wednesday in 17
categories in the Milwaukee Press Club's 1995 statewide Awards of
Excellence, including 12 first-place honors.
Winners from 19 print and broadcast news organizations throughout
Wisconsin will be recognized at the club's annual Gridiron Dinner
May 4 at the Pfister Hotel.
Journal Sentinel won first place awards in the following writing
categories: coverage of a spot news event by an individual; feature
story; sports story; editorial cartoon; business story; and regular
column by an individual.
In addition, the newspaper won first place and honorable mention
in all six categories for print photography.
