Article: SDC clients still wait for relief Almost a year later, agency hasn't delivered all air conditioners

Nearly a year after a summer heat wave, about 113 low-income residents still are waiting for the Social Development Commission to deliver or install their air conditioners, an SDC official acknowledged Friday.

In one of the city's public housing complexes, 46 Russian immigrants have been calling their case workers daily to find out when the air conditioners, delivered to the clients last fall, will be installed. SDC has 51 units to deliver and install and must complete about 62 installations of air conditioners delivered to clients between September and December.
