Article: Report asks renovation of mall Brookfield Square face lift justified by market conditions, study says

A newly released report on the future of Brookfield Square and a two-day workshop last winter that led to the report could signify a new era of cooperation between the city and its biggest commercial taxpayer.

The report is a step toward long-range renovation and possible expansion of the center, which was built in 1967 but has received little updating since.

Two executives of the Ohio-based Richard E. Jacobs Group met with the Plan Commission last week to present and discuss the report, which projected a possible renovation by the end of 1997 but said any expansion would take longer.
