The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will name Andreas Delfs music
director later today.
Delfs, 35, a native of Flensburg, Germany, is now general music
director of the Hanover State Opera and Orchestra in Germany and a
regular guest conductor of the Bern Symphony.
The appointment of Delfs will mark the end of a two-year search
for a successor to Zdenek Macal, who left the MSO in June 1995.
The MSO has scheduled a news conference for 12:30 p.m. today to
"announce exciting news of great importance," but MSO public
relations manager Andrew C. Buelow would not comment further. A
