Article: Hurtado urged for development agency post Wisconsin Center chief recommended by mayor

Wisconsin Center President Geoffrey Hurtado is being recommended by Mayor John O. Norquist to lead the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp., a non-profit, city-sponsored lending agency, officials said Tuesday.

Norquist made the recommendation in consultation with Michael Morgan, commissioner of the Department of City Development.

"Geoff is a problem-solver," including complex problems, Morgan said. Hurtado could not be reached for comment Tuesday night. Morgan said details of Hurtado's employment package were being negotiated. "I would hope we could have Geoff on board by the middle of next week," Morgan said.
