Despite increasing their team payroll by more than 40% during the
off-season, the Milwaukee Brewers still rank 25th out of the 28
major-league teams in money spent on player salaries.
Although the Brewers do not release salary information as a
matter of team policy, the Journal Sentinel based on reports from
players, agents, management and other sources estimates the team's
payroll for this season at $20,984,500.
That figure includes three players currently on the disabled list
pitchers Cal Eldred, Brian Givens and Jamie McAndrew.
Montreal ($15.4 million), Kansas City ($18.4 million) and Oakland
($19.4 million) have lower payrolls than the Brewers, according to
