The main obstacle to successful high school conference realignment
in southeastern Wisconsin is the same today as it was 26 years ago.
It's finding a suitable home for the Kenosha and Racine public high
schools.
Ever since the five schools in those two cities were given the
boot by the Big Eight Conference in 1970, they have been part of five
different realignments, none of which worked.
Once again, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association is
wrestling with realignment in this part of the state, as well as
with its age-old problem.
Two of the proposals would place the Kenosha and Racine schools
in the same conference as Burlington, Franklin, Oak Creek and South
