Common Council President John Kalwitz says he wants to explore a
merger of the Wisconsin Center District and the Greater Milwaukee
Convention & Visitors Bureau.
In letters last week to the chairmen of the boards of both
entities, Kalwitz noted that the two already share a close
relationship, and that impending management changes at the Wisconsin
Center District may make this a good time to consider combining the
two.
The Wisconsin Center District was formed by the state Legislature
to build a new $170 million convention center in downtown Milwaukee.
