As recently reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the
Wisconsin Humane Society is faced with an urgent need to replace an
aging and obsolete facility.
After considerable research and discussion with donors, it is
clear that sufficient private funds are not available to build a
joint facility for Humane Society services and government-mandated
animal control.
Since the municipalities of Milwaukee County have consistently
underfunded the animal control services provided by the Humane
Society, private contributions must underwrite these
government-mandated services.
To protect the long-term interests of animals, the Humane Society
must separate animal control from humane animal welfare ...
