Article: Bucher clears Cera of wrongdoing in trip DA tells New Berlin officials to settle differences on their own

District Attorney Paul Bucher on Tuesday exonerated Mayor Mary Claire Cera of wrongdoing in a trade mission she joined last year and called on city officials to find ways other than a criminal complaint to settle political differences.

In a detailed, nine-page letter to Cera dated Tuesday, Bucher called his investigation of Cera's role in a South American trade mission sponsored by the New Berlin Economic Development Corp. "a significant waste of resources of this office."

Bucher called the suggestion by a city auditor that it was improper of Cera to solicit corporate donations to pay for the $6,500 cost of the trip symptomatic of deeper problems with the mayor's accusers. Since a ...
