At times over the last two seasons, the Green Bay Packers might
just as well have been playing with 10 players on defense.
George Teague always could direct a secondary. What he couldn't
do, at least on a consistent basis after his thyroid disorder, was
tackle well or locate the ball downfield and then make a play on it.
Realistically then, the Packers had little to lose in changing
free safeties. At the very least, Eugene Robinson, the 33-year-old
replacement for Teague, should be equally as adept and much more
assertive lining up his teammates and making the pre-snap calls once
he assimilates the defense.
Whether Robinson can make appreciably more plays than Teague and
be anything more ...
