Article: FLOW set back in `sewer wars' PSC rules in favor of sewerage district on all major issues of dispute

The state Public Service Commission Thursday handed the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District a clear victory in the long-running "sewer wars."

The PSC ruled against a coalition of eight area suburbs on all major issues contained in a complaint filed over the district's method of charging the suburbs for sewer capital costs.

"The sewer war is over; we're just waiting for the check. It may take two years to get it, but we'll get it," said sewerage district spokesman Steve McKay, alluding to a possible appeal of the decision by the suburbs. An appeal could take 18 months to two years.
