Burhop didn't train to jump the highest or run the fastest. His pursuit of the gold requires precision knife skills and the ability to create taste sensations in a glass-enclosed kitchen while judges scrutinize every move.

Forget Atlanta. This Milwaukee chef is heading to Berlin, Germany, for the 1996 Culinary Olympics in September.

"It's four years of training coming together for one week," Burhop, 34, said of the world's most prestigious and exhaustive culinary competition Sept. 8-12. "It's been a dream and truly an honor to be associated with these gentlemen."
