Afraid you won't have the time or money to travel to Elvis
Presley's Graceland home in Memphis for Friday's commemoration of
the 19th anniversary of his death? That's all right, mama! Try
visiting a library or bookstore, where shelves just groan with
Presley volumes.
There is a new Presley cookbook, accounts of life with Elvis
(chiefly wife Priscilla's biography, "Elvis and Me," but also
versions by mistresses and hangers-on), works of fiction inspired by
Elvis, parodies, books about Elvis impersonators and Peter
Guralnik's award-winning "Last Train To Memphis: The Rise of Elvis
Presley," tracing his early years in the first of a two-part work.
