Add Kevin Lyles' name to those who believe in the adage, "Better
late than never."
The University of Wisconsin tight end will make his second
collegiate start Saturday when the Badgers play Stanford at Camp
Randall Stadium. His first was last week at Nevada-Las Vegas, a
long five years after he enrolled at UW.
"It was actually a sigh of relief to get to start, to get on the
field and get my first snap as a starter," said Lyles, who will sub
for Ryan Sondrup, out with a knee injury, for at least a month. "It
felt great."
Lyles' story is about perseverance and sacrifice, but it reflects
the arbitrary nature of recruiting.
