Don't let the name fool you. Candye Kane might have a
sweet-sounding moniker. But there was plenty of tart humor and
salty banter in her marvelous set Friday at Summerfest's Leinie
Lodge.
Performing with her rockabilly quartet, the Swingin' Armadillos,
Kane was a deliciously kitschy combination of bawdy vaudeville
performer, red-hot blues mama, talk show host and revival tent
preacher provided that tent were pitched in the parking lot of an
adult bookstore. Friday, she happily declared her bisexuality and
sent the crowd home with the directive to "love yourselves, love
your bodies."
