After having their Rose Bowl visions blurred by Michigan three
times this decade, Ohio State is Pasadena-bound.
The second-ranked Buckeyes ended a 12-year Rose Bowl drought with
a surprisingly difficult 27-17 victory over Indiana on Saturday
before a crowd of 49,271.
Their sometimes-restless and anxiety-stricken fans celebrated the
team's clinching of no worse than a tie for the Big Ten championship.
The Ohio State contingent at Memorial Stadium was more than 20,000
strong.
And when the final gun sounded, the Ohio State fans rushed onto
the field as if they were in the Spanish bull run.
They mugged the players and coaches. They ripped down a goal
