Except for the climate, the mountains, the endless acres of
vineyards (and maybe a few other things), California's Napa Valley
is remarkably like our own Door County.
Both are scenic getaway spots, with cozy resorts and outdoor
activities (hot-air ballooning is big out there). Both consist of
quaint little towns with quaint little shops situated mere miles
apart on a two-lane, always crowded highway. And both produce some
fabulous gourmet food products.
At the Association of Food Journalists' annual conference in Napa
this fall, lucky food editors had a chance to taste some of those
products and meet their creators.
